Creating and Managing your Profile

Registering with tradery.com

To register and create a Tradery.com profile, you need to provide only an unique user name, an email address and a password. All other information is optional.

Once a profile has been created, a validation email is sent to the address provided. This email contains a link which when clicked, will enable the newly created profile. You can then login to the site and start using the advanced features available to registered users.

Logging in

To login, open the login page and enter your user name and password. You can also select the "Remember me" mode, and then login.

If the "Remeber me" box is not checked, you will be logged in for a limited time and only for the current browser session. Once the user exits the browser, or if there hasn't been any activity on the site for about one hour, the user will be automatically logged off.

If you check the "Remember me" box, your logged in status will be remembered between browser sessions. Note: this feature requires that cookies be enabled in your browser.

Advantages to using the Remember Me login option

All the tradery settings (position sizing, slippage etc) or results generated during a session will be preserved across browser sessions, so a tradery session could be continued at a later time without having to reconfigure the settings or parameters, or without having to re-run the last session to review its results.

Multiple browser windows pointing to tradery.com can be opened at the same time, and they will all display the same settings, data, and session parameters. This could come in very handy if you need to look at two or more pages of results of a back-testing session at the same time, for example the list of trades, signals and charts, or statistics and equity etc. For this, just run a session in one of the browsers, and when completed, point one or more other browser windows to the desired page(s) on tradery.com (or refresh if already there). Theese browsers will then show different results for the same tradery session.

Another useful feature is that links that encode entire sessions can now be used even for your own private systems, as you will be automatically logged in as soon as the page is shown in the browser. These links can be saved as shortcuts on your desktop, or bookmarks in your browser, or posted on various sites, and they once clicked, they will automatically load a complete session and optionally even start a session run. More details in the chapter on links.

Notes:

Password Reminder

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by using the Password Reminder feature.

On the Login page, click on the Password Reminder link. Once on the new page, enter the user name and click on the Retrieve Password button. If the user name is valid, an email with a new password will be sent to the address associated with that account.

Once you have the new password, login to the site, go to the Profile page and change it to the desired password.

Managing your profile

Once logged in, click on the Profile link at the top of the page to review or modify any of the fields in your profile. You can change your password, email address or any other profile info or setting.

The user name cannot be changed. To get a different user name, a new profile must be created.

Logging out

If privacy is a concern (if working on a computer where more users have access for example), it is recommended that you log out at the end of the session, therefore ensuring that no private information (personal data, trading systems, statistics etc) is viewed or changed by an unauthorized user.
